Fabulous Fouettes w/ Miss Holly

Pre-requisite: Dancer must be able to do a double pirouette and be able to balance with their leg at waist level without assistance. Dancers at any level of fouette ability will drastically improve with the twice per week intensive. We will work on fouette technique, strength, and proper execution.
Details: Spaces are limited. Get to know your body, how to stretch properly, warm-up, breath control, troubleshooting flexibility and pain management. A MUST for the serious dancer!

Details: This intensive covers all the basic jumps and turns a dancer needs to know. With focus on developing strength, muscle memory, basic technique, and consistency. Jumps/Turns 1 reinforces class work and heightens the dancer’s knowledge of these important pillars of dance. Each dancer will receive individual attention, corrective feedback, and positive reinforcement.

Details: This intensive expands on the dancer’s current knowledge of jumps and turns while focusing on multiple revolutions, flawless execution, height variations, how to self-evaluate and take corrections, cleaner spotting, and injury prevention. Dancer’s will work on tilt jumps, c-jumps, barrels, and jump/turn combinations.

Details: Our technique intensive offers an in depth look at a dancer’s weakness in execution, balance, control, body line, stamina, spotting, body alignment, and flexibility. Each dancer will learn tools to correct these weakness as well as improve self motivation and direction. Technique Intensive is different from normal class because it focuses clearly on the individual’s weakness. This intensive is highly suggested for the intermediate/advanced and advanced level dancer.

Details: FUN FUN FUN! Dancers will learn choreography with poms to be performed in the NEWBERG OLD FASHIONED FESTIVAL PARADE! The rehearsal week focuses on teamwork, leadership, and showmanship as well as stamina, strength, coordination, and jazz skills.
Dress Code: Dance clothes or shorts and a shirt. Dancers will need tennis shoes to practice the marching outside.

Details: Transform into your favorite rock star! Learn to sing the songs, dance the moves, and have a great time doing it! Parents are invited to the last half hour of the last day for a rock star concert!

Musical Theatre Camp w/ Mr. Casey

Details: Besides musical theatre style dance, dancers will focus on vocal expression, facial expression, blocking, memorization, costuming, relationships to others on stage, and performance.

Details: Participants will learn proper lifting techniques, partner holds, and many lifts. These will include but not be limited to assisted turns, dead lifts, shoulder sits, teddy, the swallow, and the arabian.
Dress Code: Hair up/back - firm for girls, form fitting clothes, no jewelry/accessories.

Details: Dancers will listen to princess stories, practice princess dances to princess music, make arts and crafts, and see sections of princess DVDs. Princesses will practice following directions, work on small and large motor skills, and socialize in a classroom setting while having a delightful time using their imagination!

Details: Dancers will learn a lyrical dance that will be performed in the Summer Showcase on Saturday August 21st. Lyrical blends the technique of ballet and jazz while depicting the lyrics of a song. Lyrical can help a dancer develop their control of execution and overall expression while performing.

Details: Dancers will learn the basics of choreography including levels, formations, staging, etc. Each dancer will choreograph one piece and perform in several of their peers’ pieces. This is an exciting opportunity for young choreographers. As each choreographer teaches their piece we will have an opportunity to work on leadership skills. Parents are invited to watch the last half hour of the last day of camp.
