1. Dancers should arrive for class five to 10 minutes before class begins. Dancers who are late are encouraged to apologize to the instructor after class.
  2. No gum chewing or open containers of food or drink in the dance rooms. Bottled water is okay.
  3. Dancers are encouraged to clap and to thank the instructor after each class.
  4. Please call the studio before 2:00 p.m. when your dancer will not be in class.
  5. Please inform the instructor and the office if there are any medical problems we should be aware of. Please also call the studio and, if possible, inform the instructor if there are any medical problems, deaths in the family, or other issues that arise that we should be aware of when working with your dancer.
  6. Dancers are encouraged to be supportive of each other and to clap for each other.
  7. It is usual to stay in a certain dance level more than one year. We assess dancers individually and move them up by the ability level they have achieved, not by the length of time they have danced. Your dancer’s instructor will evaluate your dancer at the end of the summer and place them in the correct class for the fall.
  8. Please pick dancers up from the studio right when class is over. CVDA is not responsible for children left unattended in the lobby. Families of dancers left unattended in the lobby more than 15 minutes after their last class is done will be charged a late pick up fee of $5 for every 10 minutes after the initial 15 minutes.
  9. Absolutely no boyfriends of dancers in the studio unless they are enrolled in class.
  10. With the exception of Parent Watch Week, spectators are not allowed inside the classroom during class time. Classroom observers cannot help but pull focus away from the teacher and change the atmosphere of the class into a performing situation rather than a learning situation. Even if your child wants you to be in the classroom with them, the other children in the class may not be comfortable with that arrangement. It is also difficult for the teacher to establish a rapport with the students when there is an audience present. We will make exceptions in the 3-6 year old classes for the first two weeks only. Your child must be able to take class without the parent by the third class. Parents in the classroom for the first two classes are required to participate fully in the class.
  11. Parents are required to be supportive of CVDA’s teachers. We do not tolerate negativity in the lobby. We believe that young people need a safe haven where they can express themselves and feel joyful. We work hard to actively maintain a positive, caring environment for the dancers, the parents, and the staff.
  12. All age placements will be as of July 1st, 2010.
  13. Teen Dancers: No inappropriate topics of discussion anywhere in the studio. Please remember to set a positive example for younger dancers at all times.
  14. All dancers must wear cover-ups when arriving and leaving the studio. No leotards and tights allowed outside without clothing over the top.
  15. Dancers are not allowed to stand outside by themselves when waiting to be picked up.
  16. Items in Lost and Found will be donated at the end of each month. It is your responsibility to check the Lost and Found.
